I liked Naz. Not everybody's cup of tea. Always remember a great fight against Kevin Kelley.

As a kid I loved boxing. My first hero was Alan Minter. I was gutted seeing Hagler bash him up at Wembley but felt sorry for Hagler what with the bottles etc that come flying in cos he'd won. I was 7 and as far as I was concerned the better fighter won. Even back then hearing a few of my older uncles say hope a bottle might 'smash the c**ns head in' was bang out of order.
Local heroes were Rod Douglas and Charlie Magri. Always about and as kids they were proper local faces that we looked up too. Rod was an old pupil of my school and he'd won commonwealth gold in 86, so for us lost causes he was put up as an example that at least having a tear-up can get you somewhere!
Met Nigel Ben when he was at his prime and knocking off some half caste bird down my road. Proper geezer who even when a couple of the local black plastic gangsters stuck it on him fronted them and told em he'll take em on all at once... they bottled it

Kirkland Laing was such a good fighter, always admired John H. Stracy but John Conteh was my hero.

Nigel Benn all day long. Loved watching a few others but he was the one I'd loved to see win.
Absolute brawler. One of the very best. Maybe not technically but on sheer heart.

I saw minter win it off Antuofermo and thought minter would beat haggler then he got carried away by the crowd and started a war. Only one winner after that
